The Poetry Café

The Poetry Café is poetry, live music and artist interviews around creating community through the arts. It is place where voices and ideas are valued and amplified to feed your mind, your body and your soul. This show is unique because it connects on a local level to artists in your community, but has a global message that connects people of all ages and demographics through powerful stories and soulful music.

Hosted by Josephus III, Greensboro North Carolina’s 1st Poet Laureate the show connects and shares the work of artists across state lines, color lines and religious barriers as we support and uplift artistic voices, changing the world, one poem at a time.

This one-hour special features interviews with poet, playwright, filmaker and educator Ebony Payne-English and with poet and rapper Moses West, along with live poetry performances from various artists.

As a teacher and lecturer, Josephus founded The Poetry Project, where he works in both the educational and corporate setting focusing on “Education through Correlation”, where he uses poetry as a catalyst for literacy, leadership and service. As the host of The Poetry Café his voice is heard weekly over the airwaves as he showcases talented artists from all over the world in the genres of poetry, hip-hop, and R&B to name a few. The show also tours nationally and was featured on Amazon Prime. He has performed for Oprah, opened for Kanye West and Floetry, taught in Malaysa and The Philippines shared stages with The Last Poets, traveled to Australia, London, Seoul, and South Africa as well as back and forth across the United States sharing his gift. Greensboro, NC’s 1st Poet Laureate, brother, son, father, and husband, Josephus III.
